WELCOME LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Welcome to the American Islamic College!
The American Islamic College was established in 1981 as a private, not-for-profit college specializing in Islamic and Global Studies. The AIC currently offers a variety of non-credit/non-degree classes and is in the process of seeking accreditation via the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
Our mission is to provide students of all backgrounds with a rigorous academic training in Islamic Studies that is contextualized within a broad understanding of the historical and global contexts and forces that shape intellectual debates and interpretations as well as the political and social structures of diverse contemporary Muslim societies.
Our innovative interdisciplinary educational program, while grounded in Islamic learning, is committed to promoting inter-religious and inter-cultural understanding, responsible world citizenship, and engaged social service. Furthermore, the American Islamic College exposes the general public to the rich heritage and the contemporary realities of Muslim cultures through community outreach activities, academic symposia and seminars, and dynamic exchange and immersion programs.
Our Summer Institute is an immersion program in which international students can meet with students from around the United States to explore significant themes relating to Islam and Muslim societies, while learning from each other’s diverse cultural contexts and life experiences.
This is a truly unique program and we look forward to hosting you soon!
Sincerely,
Chair of the Executive Council
